Alexandra Gros is a doctor of neurosciences (Institut des Neurosciences Paris-Saclay, University Paris-Sud). During her PhD, she investigated the role of adult hippocampal neurogenesis in the memory—in particular episodic—and learning processes. Alexandra is currently engaged in postdoctoral research at the University of Edinburgh (UK), where she is studying how memorization and the persistence of memories of everyday events can be affected by a learning process after the fact during lifetime. To that end, she is seeking to explain the underlying molecular and cellular mechanisms behind these processes, especially through the “tagging” of neurons and synapses using the expression of immediate early genes.
