Lecturer at the computer science department of the Université Paris-Sud, François Yvon is director of the Laboratoire d’informatique pour la mécanique et les sciences de l’ingénieur (Limsi) (CNRS / Univ. Paris-Sud).

His research focuses primarily on the automatic acquisition of linguistic knowledge from text corpora, especially using statistical learning methods. These have given rise to a number of applications for the automatic processing of written and spoken languages ​​(pronunciation dictionaries, symbolic and stochastic language models, etc.). His most recent work focuses on machine translation using statistical methods, an area of research he oversees at the Limsi.
